Mood: waitin for the next blow!
8th March 2005
Windsurfing: Plimmerton - Wellington
Wind Direction: NNW
Wind Stength: 30 - 35 knots
Surf / Sea State: logo high waves
Air Temperature: 20C
Sea Temperature: 17C
Weather: Sunshine
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

The forecast was good and the sea was whitecapping everywhere on the drive to Plimmy. Again rigged my smallest sail but it was too big. I was completely overpowered again so had some mad speed runs amongst the waves. There were some real nice waves forming out the back with some good ramps but I was too overpowered.
Was out with 3 or 4 others the whole time who were on sails around the 3.5 -4metre range. I came in a few times to pull on max downhaul but it still wasnt enough. Just before the session, I bought myself a new NP wave harness which is very different to my old seat harnesss. The only thing I dont like about the waist harnesses is that when you come of at high speed and bounce along the water. The back digs into the water causing the belt to tighten up your stomach winding you which happened to me twice. It wasnt a nice feeling when you couldnt breath for a few seconds amongst the breaking waves. the first time it happened, I was going for a flat out gybe and fell of once I intitiated the carve. I impacted the water pretty hard and immediately thought o shit! ive broke my ribs but I was just winded from the waiist harness.
It wasnt all that fun being overpowered constantly for a few hours. It was also pretty gusty so was struggling quite a bit with the board near the shoreline where it was so gusty. I needed a lot of power to get me on the plane.
